My bank, Nat West, now no longer require the use of Internet Explorer to use their service (they used to allow horrible old versions of Netscape too, but they didn’t work very well).
They now support all the Mozilla-based browsers too, which is good news and undoubtedly a good security move. I certainly feel happier using Mozilla Firefox for banking online.
Back in February, I wrote to them asking why they weren’t supporting safer web browsers and got a (probably stock) message back saying that they were “testing a range of browsers for compatability with the online banking service”. Sounds like they’ve finally got their act together, anyway. It’s unlikely that my threat to move my account away had anything to do with their decision 😉
