Dear Gordon Brown…

An open letter to Gordon Brown:

Dear Gordon Brown,

I see that you are now Prime Minister.

Well done.

I hope that you have a sense of decency and will call a General Election at the earliest opportunity. I ask this because in the General Election in 2005, Labour polled approximately 35% of the vote which, because of the way the electoral system misrepresents people in this country, somehow turned into a Labour Majority in Parliament. It is safe to assume that at least some people who voted Labour did so because they were “voting for Blair”. It is also safe to assume that a considerably smaller proportion voted Labour because of you, Mr Brown.

So, with a substantial minority of the voting public behind Labour, and even less behind you personally, please do the honourable thing and call an Election. Go on, you know it makes sense.

And, hey, you never know, you might even win.

Yours,

Dave Ewart.

The above letter has been emailed to the Prime Minister directly, too.
