Ramblings about stuff

Spam, spam, spam, spam …

After playing around with Mozilla Thunderbird for a while, I decided to revert to my trusty copy of Mutt. Mutt’s much more powerful but harder to learn to use, but I’d still recommend Thunderbird for most novice to intermediate users.

Only downside with switching back is I needed to get a handle on all the spam I receive. Thunderbird’s Bayesian spam-recognition was actually pretty effective. So, I decided that, instead of using my old, customized procmail recipes, I would give SpamAssassin a go.

First impression, very impressed with SpamAssassin.

I haven’t changed the default configuration yet, and it has so far performed almost perfectly, albeit on a fairly small amount of mail. Approximately 50 messages correctly identified as spam, none incorrectly identified as spam, but it let through one piece of spam as “non-spam”. Reasonable hit-rate though, for a default installation.
