Have dished out copies of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grisoft.com\/\">AVG Anti-Virus<\/a> to people, plus running spyware checks.  One of these was my little brother, who has been running a non-virus-protected PC for some time and it has &#8220;started doing strange things&#8221;: I&#8217;ve given him a CD with AVG, Adaware, Spybot etc. on it.  I also included Firefox and OpenOffice, for good measure.  If you&#8217;re listening, have you cleaned your system yet, AJE?<\/p>\n<p>Also upgraded AVG for the in-laws.  Their PC was completely clean, albeit old and ridiculously slow (Cyrix 120MHz processor, 48MB RAM etc.).  Oh, and <i>dial-up<\/i> networking.  Doesn&#8217;t <i>that<\/i> feel slow when you&#8217;ve been away from it for a while!<\/p>\n<p>2005 Resolution: Must try to promote free software more this year.<\/p>\n<p>Before Christmas I got an email from someone who is using my <a href=\"http:\/\/colordiff.sf.net\/\">colordiff<\/a> program: he talks about it on his web site, which makes it feel like a &#8216;real&#8217; program.  Which of course, it <i>is<\/i>, but it&#8217;s nice to hear.  With the release of Debian&#8217;s new stable release, Sarge, some time this year, colordiff will be included in the default package repository, which will be good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seem to be doing a bit of &#8216;family Windows PC&#8217; support at the moment.
