Farewell &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Also had my first experiment with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntulinux.org\/\">Ubuntu<\/a> Linux distribution.  I was setting up a PC at work as a general-purpose workstation for all staff that will be used for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating CDs;<\/li>\n<li>Scanning documents;<\/li>\n<li>Reading\/writing from USB flash disks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Few staff PCs have CD-writers or scanners and Windows 98 support for recent USB 2.0 flash disks is rubbish, so this will be a helpful addition.  And, after doing a default Ubuntu desktop installation, all the above Just Works.  Impressive.  There are however two things wrong with Ubuntu:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Its name: Well, it&#8217;s a silly name isn&#8217;t it?  It certainly <i>sounds<\/i> silly when you say it.  I plan to get around this by never actually using its name at work.  I&#8217;ll call it &#8220;Linux&#8221;, I guess;<\/li>\n<li>Its colour: the default theme is <i>brown<\/i>.
