This was quite fun: and fortunately I managed to meet a few more people this year.

When I arrived, the first person I found was Matt Bloch from Bytemark Hosting (this is the company this and other sites I own are hosted with). He’s a very friendly and helpful chap, and when he saw me, the first thing he said was “Oh, hello, I’ve upgraded your machine by the way”. Which Was Nice.

After touring the rest of the exhibitors and buying a soft-toy penguin (as instructed by a smaller member of the family), I bumped into Omahn: I hadn’t seen him since LUG Radio Live back in June, so it was good to have a natter. We went along to the Great Linux Debate which was fairly entertaining: the panel included Mark “Ubuntu Spaceman” Shuttleworth, Klaus Knopper (of the Knoppix project), someone from Yahoo, Nick Veitch from LinuxFormat magazine and a very brave representative from Microsoft.

During the day, I also bumped into Bryn_S, propping up the GNOME stand and a colleague of his gave me a very in-depth tour of GNOME 2.12. Later I met Kat and David as well, but I had to head home before the after-expo drinks session kicked-in …

Oh yeah, last year there were some people dressed up as penguins. Fairly reasonable for a Linux expo. This year, however, there were no penguins. There were daleks instead. Giving out leaflets. I have no idea why this was.

For the second year running, I went to LinuxWorld Expo at Olympia in London.
