I used the opportunity to kick off my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sungate.co.uk\/?p=243\">Desktop Revolution<\/a>: these changes have &#8216;stuck&#8217; and I think I&#8217;m managing my time much better.<\/p>\n<p>However, when I ordered that new PC, I ordered <em>two<\/em> monitors for it: two identical 19&#8243; TFT screens.  When I first tried setting it up, I couldn&#8217;t get the second monitor to do anything useful: I was only able to set it up in one of the following combinations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First screen &#8216;normal&#8217;, second screen blank;<\/li>\n<li>First screen &#8216;blank&#8217;, second screen &#8216;normal&#8217;;<\/li>\n<li>Both screens showing the same (&#8216;normal&#8217;) thing;<\/li>\n<li>Both screens blank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not really a great success, I have to admit.  And that second monitor has sat, unused, in the corner of my room ever since.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, something made me want to try again with the dual-screen setup, so I gave it a go.  Success!  I now have the two screens side by side, displaying a double-width desktop: twice the screen space.  As the mouse moves off the right-hand side of the LH screen, it appears on the left-hand side of the RH screen, and so on: you can drag windows from one side to the other.  It makes certain programming and development work much friendlier, because there&#8217;s so much more space to see things simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>And only seven months too late.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in March, my PC at work packed up and I got a replacement.
