Christmas, New Year, general laziness etc.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, quick catch-up, divided into two.  Christmas presents brought me quite a few books and a number of CDs, as usual: all good, though.  I&#8217;m reading the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Wintersmith-Terry-Pratchett\/dp\/0385609841\/\">latest Pratchett<\/a> and also a book about the intricacies of WW2 called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Europe-War-1939-1945-Simple-Victory\/dp\/0333692853\/\">Europe At War: No Simple Victory<\/a>.  Both good books for completely different reasons.<\/p>\n<p>I also bought myself a copy of the canonical <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Absolute-OpenBSD-UNIX-Practical-Paranoid\/dp\/1886411999\/\">OpenBSD<\/a> tome.  As a result, I&#8217;ve learnt quite a lot about it and intend to put this into use at some point soon.  OpenBSD is traditional Unix <em>done right<\/em> and learning about it provides a good history of how the different flavours of Unix came about, and the differences between them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I haven&#8217;t posted anything here for ages.
