You generally need to back up your database, back up your install directory, keep track of any customisations you&#8217;ve made&#8230;  Then you download the new files, copy across some of them if you haven&#8217;t made personal changes to the previous version, and &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Well, you get the idea.  It&#8217;s not straightforward and it&#8217;s rather error-prone.<\/p>\n<p>So, enter <a href=\"http:\/\/techie-buzz.com\/wordpress-plugins\/wordpress-automatic-upgrade-plugin.html\">WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin<\/a>, stage left.<\/p>\n<p>This is a standard plugin for WordPress which does all the work for you, which is actually rather impressive.  I&#8217;ve just used it to bring the site up to the latest version.  It worked very nicely.
