Interest in playing Enemy Territory has been very low recently and it has been proposed that the games do not take place regularly any more. The very last game took place on Sunday 16 July at 19:30.
Except that it wasn't the last game. We had a good number of players for The Last Game which means the server has had a reprieve!
Some of the LUG-Radio posse like to play Enemy Territory occasionally. So far, we have played on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. If you'd like to join us, see server and connection details below. Enemy Territory uses port 27960 if you need to specify it in your client, or in your firewall rules. You should not need to reconfigure your firewall simply to be a client connecting to the ET server. Note that the game servers are usually off outside of gaming times.
If you decide to play:
Games take place every Wednesday and Sunday at 19:30 UK time.
Please get all the required maps and mods from Neuro's clan server page before playing, thanks.
If you any problems or questions about connecting to any of the servers, contact davee - I'm usually on #lugradio or you can find me on Jabber: davee@jabber.org (NOTE: That's not an email address!)
If you run Linux, get it from here (thanks Oojah); alternatively, or if you have Windows, you can get it from here. Note that Enemy Territory is completely free to use.
Neuro has put a new high-spec server online at clan.lugradio.zensoft.net (194.153.168.77) which we will now use. Almost-real-time game statistics can be found at the stats page. Thanks Neuro!
Xalior has upgraded the version of ET Pro on his server, get the new PK3 from here (MD5 9604061b d837eaca 82af44c0 541ecc5d).
Extract the contents of this file into your ET directory (not under 'etmain'). The zip file creates a directory 'etpro' which should be at the same level as 'etmain'.
We are testing a few new maps, namely Venice, Supply Depot 2, Helms Deep and Minas Tirith ... these are all available here. These will be available for testing starting with the game on Sunday 19 June ...
Omahn has fixed his server and has installed a new map on it called Base Race. Get the map (two PK3s, both of which are required) here and read about how to play this level at the offical guide.
Omahn's server, Neon, has had a hard disk failure and as such, cannot host any more ET until further notice. My current server won't be able to cope with the large number of players we now have, so no more ET for a while ... unless we crash on to a public server. Omahn recorded the sound of his dead hard disk from outside the case of the machine ... here.
We now have an updated installation of ETPro on the main clan server. You can download it here ...
The server is being upgraded and this will probably be finished before this evening's game. You must get the most recent client update (version 2.60) before playing. Updates for Linux (do a right-click, save-as ...) and for Windows.
Note that ETpro is not yet available for this version of ET, so it is not installed on the server. It will be, as soon as it's available. This means that some familiar features won't be available - in particular, you will lose all your XP if you are accidentally disconnected. There's not much we can do about that unfortunately ...
Hmmm, lots of people have upgraded their clients, and it looks like there is no option but to also upgrade the server. Will try to do this before the next game.
Some ET clients have been prompting for updates on start-up for the last week or so- there are new versions available. However, some clan players have found that these newer clients have compatability issues with our servers. I would therefore recommend that if you aren't experiencing any problems, don't update. If you are having problems, then I guess upgrading can't hurt: this has helped some players.
The man neuro has made a Clan-LUG-Radio 'trailer': this is a short audio clip encouraging you to take part in our Enemy Territory campaigns. Download it here (770Kb). This is well worth a listen :-)
Our servers now have a more recent version of ET-Pro installed, following a number of issues that were experienced with the older version on some clients. All links below have been updated to point to the new version, or get it here. If you installed the previous version of ETpro, remove your existing 'etpro' directory and replace it with the contents of this zip file.
