It seems I’m not having time to write proper posts here at the moment, so here’s a quick summary.
Good things:
- Discovering that the central IT services for the local University (onto whose network we will be moving shortly) are very competent, very helpful and properly organised;
- The new series of Dr Who, despite Billie Piper – actually, possibly because of Billie Piper;
- Being able to solve a configuration difficulty with dnsmasq by downloading and reviewing the dnsmasq source code, finding references to undocumented behaviour;
- The usefulness of the debian-user mailing list in sorting out various issues;
- Looking forward to an incredibly geeky gathering at LUG-Radio Live, meeting up with members of the team and others from the LUG-Radio community;
- The new album from New Order;
Bad things:
- The prospect of a continuing Labour Government;
- The prospect of a replacement Conservative Government;
- The increasing reliance of OpenOffice 2 on Sun’s Java;
- Spam;
- All the work still to do prior to our Department’s move to new premises in June;
- No political party is, as far as I am aware, proposing to introduce a Stupidity Tax at the forthcoming General Election;
I’m sure I had more Bad Things than that. I may add to it as more stuff occurs to me.
Spam
good thing, gives me lots of work installing spam filters for people… 😉
Spamassassin nice, esp when combined with MailScanner (shameless plug)
