Ramblings about stuff

My code appears to be getting around …

I had an email yesterday from a FreeBSD developer saying that a port of my colordiff utility had been added to FreeBSD. Excellent! Glad to see that it’s proving to be useful. On the back of this, I started googling to see whether it appears anywhere else, and, to my pleasant surprise, it does: The full list appears to be: Debian (which I knew about), Gentoo (which I think I also knew about), FreeBSD, Fedora (Red Hat), MacOS X Darwin and there also appears to have been a port made for Solaris as part of their recently open-sourced project. I’m amazed it has spread so far.

One of my other projects, dosunix also appears to have been ported to FreeBSD; actually, my project duplicates (possibly in an inferior way) some of the utilities in Debian’s sysutils, which may be why it’s not in Debian; my remaining projects don’t appear to have made any real impact, although I know they’re used by a handful of people.
