A Monstrous Day

Well, bloody hell. We could all have done without that. Deepest sympathies to those affected … Let’s hope it’s not the start of anything worse.

I was reminded today of a quote by an East London man at the time of the IRA bombing of Canary Wharf in 1996. He had lived through the Blitz in World War II and said, in the aftermath of the bombing: “I’ve been blown up by a better class of bastard before and survived … “ Reassuringly stubborn.

It appears that no-one we know was affected, other than through travel disruption in and around London. Hopefully a planned trip to London next week will still be on the cards …

One Response to A Monstrous Day

  1. It is difficult to know what to say.

The article by Christopher Hitchens in yesterday’s Mirror called We Cannot Surrender is stirring.
