It has been busy again for a while. Stuff of note:
- After a long summer break, a new episode of LUG Radio is out: Series 3 Episode 1. Go get!
- Sparkes, the man who is No Longer A LUG Radio Man has started his own little enterprise: selling T-shirts (and sweatshirts, hoodies etc.) with amusingly geeky things written on them. I plan to order something from him soon;
- Today I learned that CVS only uses a time resolution of a second, nothing smaller. This means that you run into problems if you try to commit more than one change to a file within a second. This is obviously not a problem if you are making manual changes, since typing “cvs commit …” takes more than a second. But as part of a script which runs, This Can Make Bad Things Happen;
- I’ve finally decided to retire our old Novell Netware servers and replace all its file- and print-services with Samba. This is a mammoth jjob that will take a couple of months to finish, but it will be fantastic to see the back of Netware 🙂
hmm sparke’s web site makes me shudder. The whole left hand side menu auto expand thing is way way too fast to make navigation easy……
If only i could get rid of Netware here too….but as it runs some critical application written in some pre-Delphi Borland thing I doubt it will happen soon ;-(
PermalinkHmm, he’s totally redesigned it … it didn’t used to have that navigation thing. That, as you say, is horrible. I’ll poke him via IRC and tell him 🙂
Permalinknav changed 😉
It’s the most trouble two lines of css have ever caused. It’s make to normal at the moment but might need to be javascript soon or I need another rethink 😉
