Today, three very exciting things happened to me on Slashdot – well, exciting if you happen to be very geeky …
- I submitted a story and it was accepted for publication on the front page – go me! The story was about the advance release of the DVD version of ‘Lord of the Rings: Return of the King’;
- When the editors posted the story, they got the link to the story at the BBC wrong. This meant that I had to post a comment with the correct link, fairly quickly, although nobody seemed to have noticed and was already discussing the DVD – I guess that’s the Slashdot tradition of Not Reading The Fine Article. This comment was modded-up to ‘+5 Informative’ within ten minutes, which was nice. Another of my comments, about the virtual-reality acceptance speech from Gollum, also managed a ‘+5 Informative’ too;
- All of which led my Slashdot karma rating to move from ‘Good’ to ‘Excellent’, which means that all future comments will start at ‘+2’ rather than ‘+1’.
A very geeky day, then.
Of course some of us have had excellant (or its equiv) for many moons..
(whats the smiley for a raspberry?)
But then maybe a mess around on /. more???
Permalinkoh yeah and have a /. id of
Permalinkaaaah the < has to be put in as &LT..
we’ll see if that works..
Permalinkno ah well…
anyway for a ./ ID of less than (!) 1500
PermalinkTut, tut, Martin, you are defacing my weblog.
At least with administrator access I am able to make corrections to my posts and comments, if I notice errors later 🙂
Yes, AP pointed out a while ago that your Slashdot ID, 1336, was “one less than ‘leet'” 😉
At least mine is a 5-digit ID, his is a 6-digit one … 😀
Permalinkyeah I know – needs to be a wiki really then I can edit my own stuff-ups (of which there are many!)
PermalinkLooking at the settings for the blog engine, there doesn’t seem to be any easy way to allow you to edit your own comments without also giving you permissions to post new entries too …
