So here we go … Debian Sarge released yesterday and I’m part of it.
You can download the entire distribution on to 14 CDs. Typically, the core system, most popular and useful programs go on the first couple of CDs, with the less popular programs on later ones. CD1 is sufficient to do a basic installation, but you will find that you’ll probably want some programs on the other CDs. There is a certain status attached with being the author of a popular program which appears on CD1, for example.
My little program, colordiff, is on CD5, which is reassuringly ‘early on’ for my liking. Some people might get the installation on DVD instead, and the distrubution fits on two. ‘colordiff’ is on the first of these.
Well, maybe you’re not impressed, but it’s something I’d put on my CV! 😀
And you need to update your CV because…??
